How you studyMostly onlinePlus 1 to 2 practical days in person

No.

You do not need a Level 2 first.

It is built in. 5 of the 10 units in this diploma are the Level 2 gym instructing units, worth 18 of the 51 credits. You start from wherever you are now and qualify at both levels in one go.

What will I actually be doing?

First

Reserve your start date

Pick an intake and reserve online. It takes a minute and costs nothing.

Then

Study the theory online, in your own time

The written units fit around your job, with a tutor you can actually reach.

Finally

Come in and coach

1 to 2 practical days. You run a real session with a real person, and you are assessed on it live.

How will I be assessed?

There is no multiple-choice shortcut to the practical. On your assessment day you deliver a real personal training session, with a real person, and a working trainer marks you on it as it happens.

Written units, marked by your tutor with feedback rather than a grade wall.

Practical day, where you coach, you are observed, and you are told what to fix.

Quality assured, with Focus Awards externally verifying the assessment.

What can I do with it once I have it?

Employed

Level 3 is the standard UK gyms and health clubs ask for when hiring personal trainers.

Insured

A regulated qualification is what insurers want to see before covering you to train clients.

Self-employed

Train your own clients, set your own rates and run it as your business. The diploma covers that side too.

Still learning

Qualifying is the start of it. The trainers who last are the ones who carry on learning once the certificate is in the drawer.

Continued learning

What you need to know that isn’t on the course

Daniel and Clinton run optional monthly sessions after the diploma on the parts no awarding body examines you on. It is a separate service, so you can take it or leave it once you have your certificate.
